Keysight Technologies Enables 5G Research with Beamforming, Channel Modeling in 5G Software Library
Advanced 5G Reference Library Helps System Architects Evaluate Pre-Standard Tx/Rx Performance of New Technologies, Formats
Highlights:
- Supports the efforts of 5G researchers looking to validate new technology concepts
- Enables an integrated, cross-domain, model-based approach to simulation
SANTA ROSA, Calif., Dec. 3, 2015
Keysight Technologies, Inc. (NYSE: KEYS) today introduced beamforming and channel modeling capabilities in the Keysight EEsof EDA W1906EP 5G Baseband Verification Library. This advanced software library dramatically increases productivity for system architects and baseband physical layer (PHY) designers by providing trusted algorithmic-reference, signal processing intellectual property (IP) for 5G technology research. Keysight will demonstrate its 5G Baseband Verification Library atGLOBECOM 2015, Hilton San Diego Bayfront Hotel, Booth 207, San Diego, Dec. 6-10. Keysight is a platinum-level sponsor of the event.
Keysight EDA's 5G Baseband Verification Library supports several multi-antenna system architectures, including digital, RF, and hybrid beamforming, as well as advanced high-order MIMO signal processing. Consisting of signal processing building blocks, subsystems, reference multi-antenna system modeling examples, and infrastructure components, the library allows system architects to execute realistic technical research and easily migrate from one 5G communication system design concept to another.
The library is essential to enabling an integrated, cross-domain, model-based approach to simulation. A modified 3GPP channel model and an integrated early millimeter-wave custom channel model, for example, help designers evaluate system performance in realistic channel environments and make realistic proposals for the new 5G standards.
"Our 5G library is a true breakthrough, delivering reliable algorithms and providing confident research insights with the industry's most advanced architectures," said Charles Plott, marketing manager of Keysight EEsof EDA. "As a result, 5G researchers can thoroughly validate new technology concepts, quantify baseband/RF performance margins, and evolve new 5G proposals."
An Integrated, Model-Based Approach to Simulation
Keysight's updated 5G Baseband Verification Library is used with the Keysight EDA SystemVue electronic system level simulation platform for 5G PHY standard development. SystemVue's integrated simulation environment, the W1465 SystemVue System Architect, is used to develop innovative designs for research and development. The integrated simulation environment allows users to investigate, implement and verify their communications PHY signal processing designs with dynamic link-level scenarios. Adding the latest 5G Baseband Verification Library to the mix provides:
- Multi-antenna system architectures, including baseband, RF and hybrid beamforming structures
- Modified 3GPP 3D channel model, supporting millimeter-wave channel characteristics
- Advanced baseband IP references for Tx/Rx in several 5G candidate waveform technologies, such as UF-OFDM, F-OFDM, FBMC
- Multi-channel RF behavioral model, with parallel processing
- 3D visualization to identify and address problem areas that improve system performance at an early stage of design
