Universal USB2WiFi Adapter for sports equipment

I am looking for a possible universal module for USB devices such as sports watches, bike computers, GPS tracker, dive computers or similar using the accompanying USB interfaces to combine over a WLAN with a smartphone (iPhone), tablet PC (iPad) or laptop and to transmit data. The module is to be powered by batteries and can also provide the interface with power. The battery should be recharged via USB also. I think of as small a box that you can easily carry with you. It would be great if even memory would be integrated in the form of a memory card reader, which receives the data temporarily. Background: Many of the above sports equipment record data that can be transmitted via an interface to a computer. Almost all of these interfaces now communicate via the USB interface. In sports you will be almost never with a computer, but more with a smartphone or iPad. For many of these sports equipment are also relevant apps that allow the data to be analyzed. However, I must usually wait until I got home with it, because the devices do not have interfaces to connect the sports equipment with it. So it is imperative that the data is transferred to the computer at home and can be analyzed with the associated app. Often, however, it would be useful to be able to make the evaluation on its way during a break, for example, height profiles to view or retrieve and dives to immediately comment. This would be given to a universal wireless module to which you could connect USB interfaces. Is it possible to implement the outlined tasks with standard modules?

This Universal USB2WiFi Adapter works very fast and most of the time it does not create any problem connecting with the laptop or phone. [commercial plug removed]

Supposing that these devices communicate over a USB serial link, this may be possible with a MCU with USB host capability and a WiFi-to-serial module like the WizFi210 or WizFi220 from Wiznet. The MCU+WiFi module would act like a wireless USB cable. The host application must be able to use WiFi for serial communication, which may be a problem. But a clever programmer can probably redirect the serial stream.

Thank you for your comment. I looked at the website of WIZnet and found another module that might be even better than the WizFi210 or WizFi220: Wiz610wi. For the serial connection the module can work as a server or a client or in mixed mode as described on page 29 of the user's manual. In server mode, WIZ610wi waits for the connection from a client. In client mode, WIZ610wi operates as client at the TCP client mode on the process of connection, and tries to connect to the server’s IP and port. Mixed modes supports both of server and client at the same time. I think, in mixed mode the module can be used if the interface of a diving computer or a GPS-Tracker initiates the connection by itself or if the interface is waiting for the module to initiate the connection, am I right? No need to use a MCU? I think you only had to add a USB to serial adapter as a breakout board from Sparkfun https://www.sparkfun.com/products/718 or https://www.sparkfun.com/products/8531 or https://www.sparkfun.com/products/8551.
